MOTIVATION FROM ODONATE (Arya)

 

As humans we are gifted by a feeling. Not only happiness, but there is always a feeling of sadness or despair. This is what makes us calling as human. Even sometimes I also feel that way and it remind myself that I am a human being. A few days ago, the snow started melt and there was a box near my experiment site. The box contains a mini ecosystem consisting of soil, algae, rice weeds, several types of freshwater snails and insects. At that time, I measured the temperature of the soil and water then the thermometer showed the current soil temperature was 0.6 degrees Celsius and the water temperature was 0.5 degrees Celsius. The interesting thing I got was that I saw a damselfly larva (odonata) trying to eat Physa acuta (freshwater snail). What I saw in that time Physa acuta was very struggle to survive from cold environment and predator. It makes us think, damselfly as antagonist character and Physa acuta as protagonist character in human life also same like that. Sometime we feel so much pressure and I can feel what Physa acuta feel to fight against the world! But it just a wrong mindset. We always think that only we in this world suffer from a very bad fate but we never see the point of view from damselfly. Maybe, that damselfly also suffer and struggle for its life.  It is very hard to decide who is the protagonist and antagonist, everyone fight for something we don’t know.  In that time, nature admonished me that even though the circumstances are very tough and full of obstacles we have to persist and fight. as some say "life must go on" because what's the meaning of life if you don't struggle. Now, I feel so relieved! Hope no more any sorrow.

人間として、私たちは感情に恵まれています。幸福だけでなく、常に悲しみや絶望感があります。これが私たちを人間と呼んでいるものです。時々私もそう感じ、自分が人間であることを思い出します。数日前、雪が溶け始め、実験場の近くに箱がありました。この箱には、土壌、藻類、米の雑草、数種類の淡水カタツムリ、昆虫からなる小さな生態系が含まれています。その時、私は土壌と水の温度を測定しました、そして温度計は現在の土壌温度が摂氏0.6度であり、水温が摂氏0.5度であることを示しました。面白いのは、イトトンボの幼虫（トンボ）がサカマキガイ（淡水カタツムリ）を食べようとしているのを見たということです。その時に私が見たのは、サカマキガイは寒い環境と捕食者から生き残るのに非常に苦労していました。それは私たちに、人間の生活の中で敵対者のキャラクターとしてのイトトンボと主人公のキャラクターとしてのサカマキガイも同じように考えさせます。時々、私たちはとてもプレッシャーを感じ、Physa acutaが世界と戦うために感じるものを感じることができます！しかし、それは間違った考え方です。私たちはいつも、この世界で私たちだけが非常に悪い運命に苦しんでいると思っていますが、私たちはイトトンボからの視点を見ることはありません。たぶん、イトトンボもその人生のために苦しみ、苦労しています。主人公と敵対者を決めるのは非常に難しく、誰もが私たちの知らないことを求めて戦います。その時、自然は私に、状況は非常に厳しく、障害に満ちているにもかかわらず、私たちは固執して戦わなければならないことを私に警告しました。 「人生は続けなければならない」と言う人もいますが、苦労しなければ人生の意味は何でしょうか。今、とても安心しました！これ以上の悲しみはありません。
