Black Soldier Fly in winter (Saito)

These days I captured BSF from chicken compost. Last autumn I collected BSF also. But the BSF residence seems to be different from autumn. In winter, the positions BSF lives were not so strong smell. But, in autumn I collected from some stinking place. In autumn I collected BSF pupae from compost surface. In winter season they were in compost around 10cm from surface. Then, I wondered in winter season BSF need high temperature to survive. But I found BSF pupae at edge of compost. That depth was almost 1~5cm. I do not know why this happened. So, I will read journal related BSF in winter season.


 アメリカミズアブを最近、鶏糞堆肥から捕まえてきました。秋近くにも１度ミズアブを採取したのですが、冬になりミズアブのいる場所が変化していると感じました。冬場のミズアブの大多数はコンポストの深さ約５㎝ぐらいのところにいました。そして臭いの強い場所にはほとんどいなかったように感じました。秋に採取したときはほとんどのアメリカミズアブの蛹が地表に出ていました。また、臭いの強弱に関係なく存在しているように思えました。冬場で温度も低いからコンポスト内の温度の高い場所に移るのだろうと思っていたのですが、コンポストの横にこぼれた堆肥の深さ1-5㎝の場所にもミズアブがいたのでどのような理由で雪の近くにいるのだろうと疑問に思いました。そのため、今後はミズアブの越冬の論文を探してみたら面白いのではないかと思っています。

Japan-Cameroon cooperation project for the development of irrigated and rainfed rice (PRODERIP) Only 2 years after the creation in 2011 of this project piloted by the Ministry of Agriculture, 78 tons of rainfed rice seeds have been produced and are available for the 6000 producers already trained in this new way of growing rice in the country. With a budget of 1.5 billion CFA francs, this project, which benefits from the technical support of the Japanese Development Agency (JICA), has seen its 3-year implementation period extended to 5 years, due to the encouraging results already obtained, according to sources. The objective of this extension, according to Proderip, is to reach the milestone of 9,000 producers trained in the cultivation of rainfed rice, which has the particularity of growing on dry land and not exclusively in irrigated areas as is the case with traditional seed varieties. UNPAD conference(Saito)

  December 17 th  and 18 th  I and some laboratory member participated UNPAD conference. This conference is held two days. 1 st  day I listen 4 presentation from Prof Ph.D and Dr. They talked related to climate change. The next program was presentation by student. They talked their thesis. There were a lot of topic and I feel it is like Graduation thesis conference(In yamagata University B4 student make presentation for B2, B3 and Prof). I saw many research and I was interested in it. But some presentations I could not understand. So, I feel I should study terminology which used in facility of agriculture. The 2 nd  day I listen 3 presentation from Ph.D related their study. I study a lot of things from two days. And this two day was very interesting for me. Finally, there are closing.
